RESOURCES AND INFORMATION FOR SURVIVOR EMPOWERMENT (RISE)

A program implemented with county attorneys and district attorneys, where survivors seeking affidavits of non-prosecution (dropping charges) against their perpetrators are referred to register for a scheduled information session with one of our advocates, where they will learn about the dynamics and effects of violence, possible case outcomes, the available services and resources, and safety planning measures. This does not guarantee that the affidavit will be approved, but will make it eligible for consideration, per the requirement of the prosecuting agency.

YOUTH PREVENTION

GVFVS recognizes the need for children to have conversations regularly about what unhealthy relationships look like, how violence can escalate, and why respectful communication is important. We are available to come to your school (virtually and/or in person) to give presentations on the following topics:

  • Dating Violence/Healthy Relationship Boundaries
  • Consent
  • Bystander Intervention

NEW! YOUTH VIOLENCE PREVENTION PROGRAM:

GVFVS is in the process of creating a youth violence prevention program which aims to educate children on the dynamics of violence, how it is perpetuated; and ultimately how we can prevent it in our spaces and our lives. Backed by CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning), GVFVS will combine our knowledge on concepts of violence and healthy relationship boundaries with the empirically sound social-emotional skills that are essential for creating those boundaries. The first implementation of this course will be with 5th grade students from participating schools in our service-area, but we plan to build on the program to make participation accessible for grades 4-12 once we have accumulated sufficient data and community support.
